Biking - Easy Trails
Ferry Island – (easy aerobic)
From the Visitor Centre, head out on Highway 16 east over the first bridge and turn right into the Ferry Island Municipal Campground. The trail goes around the southern perimeter of the island and begins at the picnic shelter on the west side.
• well maintained multi-use trail
• approximately 2.5km long
• no hills
• occasional log or tight corner
Exstew Logging Road – (easy aerobic)
Following Highway 16 west towards Prince Rupert for 38.5km you will see a logging road on your right. Following the road, which is a half km before the Exstew River, it is about 10km to Falls A. To get to Falls A, take a right at the first fork, and a left at the second fork. To get to Falls B you turn left at the first fork. It is about 8.3km from the highway to Falls B.

• at the 6 km mark, you will find a former forestry service site on a sandy beach
Gruchy’s Beach – (easy aerobic)
A short drive about 15 to 20 minutes south of Terrace will bring you to the parking area for the trail. It is well marked and shortly before the bridge.
• short 1 km trail to sandy beach
• within Lakelse Lake Provincial Park off Hwy 37 South
• 1 km trail through old growth forest to the north end of Lakelse Lake
Onion Lakes – (easy moderate aerobic)
28km south towards Kitimat, or 6km past Mount Layton Hotsprings, is the trailhead on the side of the road just before the parking area.
• these cross-country ski trails can be used once the land has dried up somewhat from winter snow and spring rains
• Moose Highway is 13.5 km long, the other loops are shorter
Spring Creek – (moderate aerobic)
Head out of Terrace north on Kalum Street, then turn left onto Halliwell. Turn right onto North Eby and follow it until you get to Merkley (first right at bottom of hill). Follow Merkley until you reach Spring Creek Rd. Turn onto Spring Creek and head down to the end of the street. You will see a city water shed where there is some parking. Beyond the gate up ahead there is the trail. Trail ends on Dover Rd. and either arrange for pick up or bike back to your vehicle.
• 15 km loop of mostly dirt roads and a small stretch of single track
Zymacord Loop – (moderate aerobic)
• A loop of logging roads from West Kalum Road to New Remo and return by highway
• not recommended use unless know the area (many logging roads and can get lost, also bears in the area)
Bornite Mountain Logging Road – (difficult aerobic)
Follow Highway 16 east until you get to Kleanza Creek Provincial Park. Turn right onto the road and then left onto Bornite Mountain Road. 4.5km up the road you will see a road on your left. Follow this road for for 8km to the trailhead (the last 4km is 4x4 recommended).
