Gitnadoix River Recreation Area


  • a spectacular wilderness region located in the heart of the Kitimat Ranges of the Coast Mountains;
  • managed by the BC Parks, it includes the Gitnadoix River, its tributaries, Alastair Lake @ the headwaters of the river
  • it empties into the Skeena River from the south
  • found about 60 km west of Terrace
  • fly in or by boat only; no road access; boat launch at Exchamsiks is the best place to access the area by boat
  • hiking, wilderness camping, wilderness viewing, excellent sport fishing
  • Trumpeter Swans nest in the park (one of only 3 confirmed nesting sites in BC)
  • No facilities in the park
